Technology Guide

'HD Ready' is an industry standard logo and is used to indicate if a television is capable of receiving HD broadcasts. HD broadcasts are made in 720p or 1080i formats.

HD Ready televisions meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum native resolution of 720 lines in widescreen aspect ratio
  • Support 720p and 1080i picture formats
  • A digital HDMI or DVI input, at least one of which should support HDCP copy protection
  • An analogue component input

To put it simply, if you see the 'HD Ready' logo on a display screen it means the screen has sufficient resolution to support HD images and can play HD sources. However it may not display the full resolution from 1080p sources.

All HD Ready screens will allow you to enjoy the latest Hollywood movies on Blu-Ray discs, television broadcasts in HD, video footage from your HD camcorder, HD pictures from HD digital still cameras and also HD gaming consoles.
