Technology Guide

Freesat is free-to-air digital satellite service which is accessed through a satellite dish connected to either a TV with Freesat tuner built in or Freesat HD digital set top box (one off payment required for the box) connected to HD Ready TV with HDMI cable.

Freesat is free, offering up to 140 TV and radio channels, HD programming from BBC and ITV, fast digital text, enhanced interactivity, digital subtitles and audio description. New channels are being added all the time and the number is set to rise to 230 channels in 2009.

For a one off payment Freesat offers a wider choice of stations than Freeview and does not require any monthly or annual fees and it is completely free to watch.

Freesat+ set top boxes are also now available. These have built in hard disk drives that enable you to record hours of HD programming with its incredible colour and sound. Freesat+ offers features such as series recording, radio recording, live pause and instant rewind and split recording, to name a few.
