LCD, LED & Plasma TVs

Televisions provide us with entertainment, information and education. They can be found in almost every home around the country and are no longer confined just to living rooms. Additional screens are found in many bedrooms, kitchens or even in specially designed home cinema rooms in our homes.

LCD, LED & Plasma Displays

The way we watch television has also evolved over the years. We moved from small black & white CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) television sets to larger colour CRT televisions. Screen technology then progressed from using bulky CRTs to much flatter LCD, Plasma and most recently LED display screens which are equally at home sat on a stand as they are hanging on our wall or from the ceiling. Modern technological developments also mean that we can even achieve the ultimate home cinema experience with an LCD projector and screen.

Advanced TV Technology

Television technology continues to improve all the time and we can look forward to a number of developments in TV technology over the next few years. These new television developments include 3D HDTV, wireless HD, Flex (flexible) OLED and internet enabled TV just to name a few. Televisions get thinner and thinner year on year and you should start seeing them less than an inch in depth.

The picture we watch on our television is changing. The analogue television signal we have been used to for years is about to be switched off and replaced by digital transmission. By 2012 every household in the UK will have switched over to digital. Digital broadcast in Standard Definition (SD) has brought improvement in the picture quality but it is High Definition (HD) broadcast that has brought incredible improvement and that offers the ultimate in picture quality.
