Philips is the largest consumer electronics company in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Phillips was established almost 120 years ago, in the
Netherlands. When they started, back in 1891, they only produced light bulbs, a product they still produce to this very day. Phillips has expanded to produce
a range of electrical goods including flat panel televisions, home cinema, video recorders and audio products.
Phillips’ products combine contemporary design with the latest advances in technology. They aim to design products that look unique and stylish but that
are also designed to suit the customer’s needs. An example of their innovative technology is the current line of ‘Ambilight’ televisions: these generate a
lighting effect in the screens outside frame that corresponds to the on-screen content. This is designed to reduce eye strain and create a relaxing viewing
experience.
