The WFT-E5B is a Wireless File Transmitter for the Canon EOS 7D DSLR. It has a number of uses including providing a quick and convenient way to transfer images from your camera on to your computer – handy for photojournalists.
The WFT-E5B can connect to other devices via three transmission modes. You can transfer images to an FTP server, PTP allows for two-way communication between the camera and a computer, while HTTP allows images stored on the memory card to be viewed using a web browser
Linked shooting is possible, so you can capture a subject from multiple angles. The master EOS 7D can control up to 10 slaver 7D also fitted with WFT-E5 units up to 100-metres away.
The built-in WFT Server allows you to control the camera wirelessly over an HTTP connection using a web browser – A handy feature for studio work.
The WFT-E5B is also compatible with Bluetooth dongles which can be connected to the USB port. This can be used with a GPS device for example for geo-tagging.
The transmitter is compatible with IEEE 802.11a and 802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi, and is also DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compatible. It's a very useful accessory for EOS 7D owners, particularly for professionals who require convenience or greater flexibility when they work.
