The exceptional Exmor R CMOS sensor is one piece of technology found on the TX1 that separates it from almost every other compact camera currently available. This is the sensor found in Sony alpha DSLRs and it boasts an 2x increase in sensitivity. It cuts image noise by almost half in low light compared to conventional sensors and this results in crisp, clear images captured at night or inside where lighting is insufficient.

On the back of the camera you’ll find a 3-inch Clear Photo LCD touchscreen display. The touchscreen makes controlling the camera quick and simple and means there’s no need for fiddly buttons - in fact the camera only features buttons for shutter release, power, viewing images and a slider switch for zoom! The display is wide and bright with a high-contrast, so you can see exactly what you’re shooting even in bright sunlight.
Despite the slim body, the TX1 features a high-quality Carl Zeiss lens with 4x optical zoom and Sony’s renowned Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation to reduce the effects of handshake and ensure blur-free shots. Plus with a 10.2 effective megapixel resolution, you can turn your images into large-size prints and enlargements full of detail.
The innovative Sweep Panorama mode is another cutting-edge feature found on the TX1. This allows you to create unique panoramic images and capture vast landscapes or city scenes. The technology works by taking a high-speed burst of images when you move the camera from side to side or up and down. It then automatically joins the separate images together to create one unique panoramic image.
Set the camera to handheld twilight mode you can create crisp, high-quality images in low-light. This works by capturing six images in less than a second and then layers them on top of each other to produce a sharper and more detailed single image and without suffering from noise. This method also works with Anti Motion Blur Mode to produce crisp low-light images with reduced subject blur.
The DSC-TX1 offers speed as well as quality. The ultra-fast autofocus can achieve clear, sharp images within no time and you can capture up to 10 full resolution frames per second in a high-speed continuous burst.
Video captured with the TX1 looks just as good as the stills. The camera can shoot crisp, fully detailed 720p video clips at 30 frames per second. You can then connect the camera to an HDTV and watch it at its best.
