Bright, top-quality lens
The Lumix LX5 boasts a bright 24mm Wide-angle f/2.0 Leica DC Vario-Summicron Lens with 3.8x optical zoom. The low-distortion, high-resolution lens lets you capture the finest details, fit far more into your frame and offers incredible clarity from corner to corner. Plus the combination of the f/2.0-3.3 aperture and iris diaphragm allow you to produce stunning shots with gentle soft focusing.
In addition the LX5 offers Intelligent Zoom that extends the zoom ratio by approximately 1.3x whilst still maintaining image quality, so you can capture 4:3 images with a zoom equivalent to 5x.
The LX5 features Panasonic’s cutting-edge Venus Engine FHD and Intelligent Resolution technology to ensure the very best results from each and every shot. Intelligent Resolution technology automatically detects three key parts of the image - outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation and then performs the most precise and effective signal processing for that area, pixel by pixel. This results in images that are sharper, clearer and crisper.
You have the option to shoot images as JPEG files, unprocessed RAW files or a combination of both! Plus there is a handy switch by the lens barrel that lets you select the image aspect ratio – You can choose from standard digital 4:3 ratio, 3:2, 16:9 and even 1:1.
Intuitive design and comprehensive manual controls
Experienced photographers can use the LX5’s extensive manual controls to get the best from their shot. The camera has an enhanced jog dial for intuitive control and there is a handy switch on the lens barrel to change between autofocus, macro focus and manual focus. Plus the My Colour Mode and Film Modes allow you to easily customise colour effects to suit your preferences.
Alternatively you can activate iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode when capturing stills or video and the camera will automatically activate a range of technology and adjust settings to get the best results from your scene and situation.
The LX5 is ready to shoot stunning 720p HD video in either the AVCHD Lite or Motion JPEG format. There is a dedicated video recording button for quick and easy video, plus you can even use the optical zoom as you film! Dolby Digital Creator ensure high-quality sound as you film and you can activate the special Creative Movie Mode in order to adjust the shutter speed and aperture of your video.
On the back of the Lumix DMC-LX5 is a top-quality 3.0-inch LCD with 460,000-dot high resolution. The display offers superb clarity, so you can precisely frame your shot with ease.
