Powerful Ultra Wide-Angle Lens
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 may be a compact camera but it doesn’t compromise one bit when it comes to the lens. The TZ20 boasts a 24mm ultra wide-angle LEICA DC lens (35mm camera equivalent: 24-384mm) with a hugely powerful 16x optical zoom. The lens has Nano Surface Coating technology to drastically reduce ghost and flare and offers an approximately 213% larger viewing space compared to a standard 35mm lens. The TZ20 also offers Intelligent Zoom which extends the zoom ratio by approximately 1.3x whilst still retaining image quality and giving you virtually 21x zoom, and there is an Extra Optical Zoom function to extend zoom power even further to 33.8x with a 3-megapixel resolution.
Thanks to the Venus Engine FHD, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 is able to shoot at speeds of 10 fps with a 14-megapixel full resolution and with a mechanical shutter, or 5 fps with continuous AF. Plus there is an even faster burst shooting mode with an electronic shutter that lets you capture 60 fps with a 3.5-megapixel resolution. The TZ20 also features Sonic Speed AF with approximately 49% faster speeds compared to the predecessor, a higher sensitivity and class-leading noise reduction, allowing you to perfectly capture any photo opportunity.
You can use the Lumix DMC-TZ20 to shoot spectacular 1920 x 1080 50i HD video in the AVCHD format and with Dolby Digital Stereo Creator sound. The TZ20 has a dedicated button for recording video in an instant and you can use the camera’s impressive 16x optical zoom as you film. POWER O.I.S. with Active Mode also comes in useful as you film, especially when filming whilst walking for example.
Smart Touch Screen for Intuitive Control
On the back of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 is a large 3.0 inch 460,000-dot high resolution screen. The screen reproduces incredible detail, has an Anti-Reflection coating to suppress reflections under strong sunlight and features automatic brightness adjustment in 11 steps to ensure superb visibility at all times. The TZ20’s display also offers full touch-screen operation with all menus available via touch control and allowing you to change settings quickly. You can use the touchscreen to immediately set auto focus on a subject for example, by simply touching it on the screen and you can browse images with ease via thumbnails and quick slide movements.
The Panasonic DMC-TZ20 makes a great choice for those who often travel around the world as the camera features a built-in GPS system. The GPS captures the location data such as of where the photo was taken and automatically embeds it into the Exif data. You can then use this information to geotag your images and share them on online maps for example. The GPS also provides real-time information as you shoot such with the name of the location for example and 1,000,000 landmarks in over 203 countries or regions.
Create 3D images with ease
The Lumix DMC-TZ20 also lets you create a unique 3D image by capturing 20 consecutive images whilst panning left to right. You can then view this 3D image on a compatible 3D HDTV and MPO-compatible 3D equipment such as Digital Photo Frames.
