The Coolpix AW100 is extremely compact and at the same time extremely rugged.

Easy to use even with gloves on
To make sure the Coolpix AW100 is as easy as is possible to use in all the possible scenarios Nikon have fitted the AW100 with an Action-Control making the AW100 as easy to use when underwater or when wearing gloves as if it was an everyday occurrence. To take this a stage further the large 3" LCD screen boasts Nikon’s Clear Colour Display technology that minimises reflections, even under water or in bright sun light giving you vivid colours and a sharper contrast, and for those awkward to change memory situations the Coolpix AW100 has 83MB internal memory giving you a little bit of backup storage.
Movies with attitude
The Coolpix AW100 Has Full HD 1080p movie recording with stereo sound with optical zoom and autofocus still being fully available, there is even a function allowing you to create fast or slow motion by changing the recording speed from between 15 – 240 fps giving you some fantastic variations in your movies.
Blur is a thing of the past
To make sure you get the sharpest image in either dark or unsteady situations the Coolpix AW100 has no less than 4 different ways to remove blur from your images.
The Hybrid VR employs both a Lens-shift and electronic Vibration Reduction to initially to stop issues with hand held and extreme zoom scenarios, the third technology is that the AW100 has a high ISO range able to go up to 3200 increasing the light sensitivity for low light shots, and finally but no less important the AW100 has BSS Best Shot Selector that will select the sharpest image out of a automatic sequence of 10 shots.

Without going into all the details, the Coolpix AW100 has a built-in GPS with electronic compass to enable exact location tagging of your shots and you can even record and view your route using the LCD screen. There is Easy Panorama 3600 / 1800 modes allowing you to just hold the shutter button pan vertically or horizontally giving great landscape shots either above ground or underwater.
To complete this camera the Coolpix AW100 can shot up to 7.1 fps in photo mode, has dedicated light modes including Backlight scene mode, Night Portrait mode and Night Landscape mode plus a tremendous list of other scene modes.
