High-speed photography
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 is ready for high-speed shooting, allowing you to capture fast-paced action with ease. The camera offers 16.05-megapixel full resolution at 5 fps continuous shooting with a mechanical shutter, as well as an impressive 40 fps in 4-megapixel recording mode. The DMC-GH2 also boasts incredibly fast and accurate Light Speed AF with speeds of approximately 0.1 second!
You can use the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 to shoot high-resolution 1920 x 1080 / 50i video in the AVCHD format. You can add high-quality sound to your video as the camera features Dolby Digital Stereo Creator and gives you the option to connect an optional Stereo Microphone (sold separately) You can also choose from a number of modes to suit your requirements including 24P Cinema Mode with 23Mbps recording for impressive HD video with rich, cinema-like gradation, Variable Movie Mode for selecting an 80%, 160%, 200% or 300% frame rate for your video and Manual Movie Mode which lets you set the shutter speed and aperture manually. Plus the GH2 can be connected to an HDTV via an optional mini HDMI cable, for playing your HD video on the big screen.
Intuitive Touch Control and Double Live View
On the back of the Lumix GH2 is a 3.0-inch 460,000-dot free-angle LCD with a touch-screen operation and approximately 100% field of view. The display’s free-angle design allows you to rotate it by 180° to the side and tilt it up and down by 270° - This comes in very useful when you’re shooting from tricky angles for example. The display’s touchscreen operation provides quick and convenient control the GH2. For example you can use Touch AF with both stills and video and to set auto focus for a subject by simply touching it on screen and you can control both auto focus and shutter release at the same time with a simple touch!
The camera also has a 1,533,600-dot Multi Aspect Wide Screen Live View Finder and this can be used in conjunction with the display for Double Live-View.
The camera’s My Colour Mode and Film Mode allow you to be more creative with your images. My Color Mode consists of seven unique preset modes including the colourful Expressive Mode and the soft and moody Pure Mode and each adjusts colour, brightness and saturation to make your images more unique. There is also a Custom Mode that lets you adjust the colour, brightness and saturation yourself. While the 10 Film modes simulate the effects that various films have on colouring and contrast - A great feature for photographers who are experienced with film.
You can select from a number of Scene Modes which automatically pick the optimal settings for a range of scenes. Plus you can use the handy Peripheral Defocus Mode to help emphasise your subject. This automatically adjusts the focus to match the AF area you positioned whilst gently defocusing the foreground and background.
The Panasonic DMC-GH2 allows you to capture RAW files without any image processing – Ideal for post production and you can choose from three aspect ratios – 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3 – the same angle of view.
You can activate iA (Intelligent Auto) if you’re a less experienced photographer or if you want to point and shoot but still produce great photos and video. With iA the camera does all the work, using detection and correction functions such as Intelligent D-Range Control and Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition to ensure stunning results.
