"Features a 4-stop Image Stabiliser and makes great choice for general-purpose telephoto photography"

The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS is a compact and affordable lens that offers powerful telephoto performance. It features a 4-stop Image Stabiliser with automatic panning detection to substantially reduce blurring in low-light.

With a focal length equivalent of 88-400mm in 35mm format, powerful performance and impressive image quality, the EF-S 55-250mm makes a great, versatile lens for general-purpose telephoto photography.

The EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Lens features Canon’s advanced 4-stop compensation Image Stabiliser technology to help reduce the effects of camera shake. The technology also allows you to use shutter speeds up to 4 times slower with no real increase in image blur. Plus handy automatic panning detection automatically turns off the IS when you're panning horizontally or vertically to follow a moving subject.

Canon’s Ultra-low dispersion (UD) ) lens element helps suppress the effects of secondary chromatic aberrations and so ensures crisp, sharp, high-contrast images without fringing throughout the zoom range.

Canon’s Super Spectra coating absorbs light that may be reflected off the digital camera sensors or internal lens elements. This reduces ghosting and flare and also ensures more accurate colour balance and sharp, high-contrast images.

When shooting with a large aperture, the circular aperture diaphragm creates smooth and consistent background blur, making it ideal for emphasising subjects shot against busy backgrounds.
