"Superb subwoofer that combines power, dynamics and a solid construction "

Jamie Smith - ASK's Technology Expert

Jamie Smith - ASK LCD & Plasma Specialist

Pioneer’s S-W250S is a superb subwoofer that combines power, dynamics and a solid construction to produce unparalleled low-frequency, bass sounds and ensure that your home cinema experience is one to savour.

The unit features an impressive active 30 cm woofer and a fantastic 30 cm passive radiator. This ensures incredibly deep low frequency sounds and has enough spare power to handle even the most demanding soundtracks at the highest sound level.

All the electronic components are separated from the acoustic cabinet to avoid internal interference. This radically reduces vibrations and electromagnetic perturbations coming from the driver to produce clear, unspoilt sound.

The subwoofer’s front panel features a 0°/180° phase switch and you can select the crossover frequency of the internal filter or choose to bypass it. There’s also a specialist “Cinema mode” switch that enhances any film soundtrack for a unique, thrilling home cinema experience.

On the back are connections for line level signals or direct speaker level signals and a line output connector which can be use to connect to another subwoofer for example - Handy if you have a particularly large room.

The S-W250S can play an important part in a high-quality home cinema system. If you're looking for class-leading sound, this could be the sub for the job.
